About the teacher

Eriko's art is rooted in her Kyoto upbringing, where urban life sparked a keen observation of nature's subtle wonders—from insects under stones to the nectar of Rhododendron flowers.

These early connections deeply influence her work, blending curiosity with vibrant expression.

In Europe, Eriko melds these inspirations with her Japanese heritage, creating art that juxtaposes human elements with nature, using traditional Gansai watercolors and brushes. Her process, deliberate and poetic, captures the essence of nature and self-discovery, making Japanese watercolor a conduit for depicting the relationship between humanity and the natural world.
